I'm Ali, a surface pattern designer from rural Northamptonshire, England. I like to describe myself as a curious person with a passion for colour and design, and I love creating happy, colorful work that makes people smile.
After graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Printed Textiles from Derby University, I began my career as a lecturer, teaching visual studies to interior design students, while also freelancing as a surface pattern designer. During this time, I created hand-painted work for the home decor and stationery markets and gained experience in manufacturing glass and ceramic transfers for companies like Royal Worcester and Denby.
Following a career break to start a family, I returned to the industry I love. Pattern design brings me immense joy, and I've taken many online courses and watched countless tutorials to further fuel my passion. My design process often begins with an inky drawing, painting, or cut paper, whether traditionally or digitally, before I complete the final design in Illustrator or Photoshop, where I add colour and texture.
When I'm not designing, you can find me spending time with my family and our bonkers Fox Terrier, Pip!
